Occupational Therapy or OT is therapy to develop skills to functional levels. As Paediatric and Mental Health OTs we use a developmental approach to therapy.
We provide therapy using Neuro OT, DIR Floor time, Interpersonal Neurobiology and a sensory integration framework. We are also trauma informed and develop individual programs for all of our clients.
We use a bottom up approach which means we work from the tree trunk to the leaves. Just like a tree if the foundation is strong, higher order skills or the branches are easy to develop and will also be generalized to functional age based levels. If the foundation is poor then fracture skills will develop causing limited functioning that does not reflect the individual's age. We also use Neuro OT which put simply is following a neurological approach; the brain is in charge of everything so therapy should focus on how the brain is connecting and it's neural connectivity.
Our OTs are amazing and can develop a range of skills which will lead to independent future skill development as the skills are developed to advanced levels where they can be generalised and manipulated by the client.
